bananarama were the ULTIMATE 80′s girl band, FACT!
When I was mini I totally idolised Sara, Keren and Siobhan, with their messy hair, BOY London clothes and boxing boots they were the kind of cool, fun girl we all wanted to grow up to be.
They were a bit like the sugababes of their day (…er, but waaaayyyyy cooler, obv) – they started out as super-sulky cool pop chicks, collaborating with Fun Boy Three, doing 60′s girl band covers and writing their own songs… and ended up moving to glossy pop hit factory Stock Aitken and Waterman with a line-up change!
but I loved every minute of it!!!
Sara and Keren are still going and have released a new single this week – I took a listen, it’s not bad but they clearly have an exclusively gay listenership these days – the old classix still work best for me
There are toooo many faves to choose from but here are my top 5::::… for now….
(btw I had to TRAWL for these cos of weird record label issues so enjoy em while you can!)
